CARTER THE GREAT

In the “Temple of Mystery” of Carter the Great, in the Century of Progreso Exposition in Chicago, was a “haunted” house. In this magnificent all-steel theatre —specially designed in Egyptian architecture and devoted exclusively to latter-day miracles and new and novel illusions which thrilled and delighted the young and old alike—Mr. Carter, a world-famous magician, hold a seance during his performances, in which the ghost of “Katie King” appeared, and apparently held converse with the Davenport Brothers, Houdini. Sir Oliver Lodge, Sir Conan Doyle, and many others; music was played by ghostly hands, flowers and other objects materialised from the air, and many other weird happenings took place which caused gasps of wonderment from the audience. Carter the Great has gathered many strange people together in the course of his 25 years of travel round the globe, and these mysterious strangers from far-away shores, coupled with the crowd of marvellous illusions to be seen at every performance, will make a visit to the Grand Opera House on December 23 thoroughly enjoyable.
