The annual cricket match between Wellington College and Wanganui Collegiate School commenced here to-day in glorious weather. . , , . - The visitors went in first, and in spite of a good batting wicket put up a very disappointing display, taking two and three-quarter hours to compile a total oi 75. The top scorer was Lees, who made 27, only two others —Steel 13 and Quirk 16—reaching double figures. The two attractive features of the match were the success of Wanganui s medium fast bowler, Meuli, and a brilliant century by Harding. Wanganui’s commencement was almost as uncertain as that of the visitors, three wickets going for 54. However, Harding and D. Orton made a stand and’brought the score, to 140, when Orton was snapped up in the slips. He played a sound innings for 29. At the tea adjournment It ellington s score was comfortably left behind..
