NOT A GENERAL RULE

Anticipation of Building Permits REPORT TO CITY COUNCIL A report dealing with a statement made at the last council meeting to uhe effect that a practice was developing In which builders proceeded with structural alterations to premises before the Issue of the building permit was dealt with in a statement presented to the Wellington City Council last night from the city engineer, Mr. G. A. Hart. Mr. Hart assured the council that such infringements represented only a small proportion of the. total permits issued and were solely in relation to works of a minor nature. It was not the general practice for builders to commence construction or alterations before the requisite building permit was issued.
