FULL COMPENSATION
Claim by Watersider The Court of Arbitration, in a reserved judgment, has found for Thomas Lawson, of Wellington, waterside worker, against the Wellington Harbour Board. Lawson claimed compensation for an injury to his back alleged to be caused while assisting to lift a launch while in the employ of the Harbour Board on March 1 last. The Harbour Board admitted the accident, but contended that Lawson was suffering from locomotor ataxia, and that his incapacity was due to disease, and not to a ricked back. The Court referred the medical aspects of the case to Dr. J. Roberts Boyd, of Wellington, and it was largely upon his report that the judgment was based. The Court granted the plaintiff full gompensation to November 21, 1933,
and for sixteen weeks thereafter. Credit was given for all payments already made, and Lawson was allowed £1 medical fee, £lO/10/- costs, and £6/6/- witnesses' expenses. Mr. P. J. O'Regan represented plaintiff, and Mr. G. G. Watson appeared for the board.
