REPORTS DENIED
No Advice to Mortgagors STATE ADVANCES OFFICERS ■ » 1 There appear to have been reports circulating in some parts of the Dominion that State Advances Department officers have’ advised mortgagors to pay instalments on interest due to the department rather than the rates to local bodies. One of those reports was to the effect that there had been several cases of the kind in Onehunga. When these statements were referred to the Superintendent of the State Advances Department (Mr. E. O. Hales) that official gave the reports a flat denial and said that, on the instructions had been given officers against the offering of advice to any mortgagor which might be liable to such an interpretation.
