CITY REVALUATION
Work Now Proceeding Information as to what was being done to expedite the revaluation of Wellington City was sought by Mr. R. M eKeen (Lab., Wellington South), when the Estimates of the Valuation Department were under consideration in the House of Representatives last evening. Mr. MeKeen also asked if it were intended to bring down legislation to prevent individuals seeking revaluations at the present time. He suggested that the Wellington City revaluation should be accelerated to enable next year’s rates to be issued on the new valuations. The Minister in charge of the Valuation Department, Hon. E. A. Ransom, said it was proposed to bring down legislation which would have the effect of overcoming the position created by the revaluations referred to by Mr. MeKeen.' It would not be possible to complete the revaluation of Wellington City so that the new valuations could be used for next year’s rates. The work, however, was now proceeding.
