A message from Hampden, Maine, states that a five weeks’ dance marathon ended to-day with death for three of the contestants and injuries to many others in a fire which broke out in the building where the contest was held. So rapidly did the wind-driven flames sweep through the barn-like dancehall that none of the group of dancers was able to stop for clothing or belongings, though outside a blizzard was raging and the snowdrifts were knee deep.
