RETURNED TO DONORS
Sanders Yachting Cup
By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, December 1
The Sanders Memorial Cup has been returned to the donors, Walker and Hall, Limited, by the Auckland Yacht and Motor Boat Association, in accordance with a decision made at a meeting of the association ou November 7. The cup was formally handed over by the chairman of the association to Mr. J. Hislop, manager in Auckland for Walker and Hall.
“The cup will be sent to the New Zealand Council in Christchurch,” said Mr. Hislop. “As fflr as I know the contest will be carried out in February, and I trust Auckland, who will not have lost anything by doing so, will send a boat to take part in the races. If this is done the trouble will be buried and forgotten. If a challenge is made from Auckland that has the endorsement of the association, I understand it will be well received in Christchurch, and, if that is so, then it. will be the end of the whole trouble. For the sake of the name Sanders I would like to see the contest carried on.”
