Further improvement on the high figures of October is shown in Customs duties collected at Auckland last month, the total being £213,509. This is slightly more than the October return of £211,373, which was the greatest amount collected in one month since August, 1930, when the total was £228,710. In November, 1932, Customs collections totalled only £168,970.

For the ten months of the present year a total of £2,030,247 was collected in Customs duties, compared with £1,795,101 iu the same period of 1932, an increase of £235,146. Sales tax collected last month amounted to £50,731, the total since the imposition of the tax being £368,228. Motor spirit and tire duties yielded £45,788, compared with £43,430 in November, 1932. The total for eleven months i/, £3,449,046, against £4,387,164 in the corresponding period of last year. Excise collected on beer for November amounted to £13,438, compared with £13,659 in November, 1932. For the 11 months, £116,997 was collected, as against £112,217 to the end of November last year. .
