SMALLER FIELDS

Feilding. Second Day FORM REVIEW & PROSPECTS (By Telegraph.—From “The Watcher.”) Feilding, December 1. Fields for the concludingday to-mor-row have thinned out a lot, but there is still plenty of material for another day of interesting racing. Although the weather has been threatening, rain does not appear likely, so the going should enable form to be worth following. The programme is as follows: — Noon— CHELTENHAM HURDLES HANDICAP, of £BO. About one mile and a half and 130 yards.

On form Ruanui, Mamriri, and Million have to be considered in the hurdle race, and Air Laddie cannot be dismissed, while March Alone may improve. A fresh horse in Riotous complicates form, and he should run well. .On. the whole backers may go for Ruanui, Million, and Manuiri. 12.43 p.m.— NOVICE STAKES, of £7O. Six furlongs.

Wyndale ... 8 0 Form in the Novice Stakes points to Wyndale, May.pay and Widden, while All Supreme, Tahurangi, and Aweketia are liable to improve. The best backed may be Widden, Wyndale, and Maypay. 1.25 p.m.— ST. ANDREW’S HANDICAP, of £125. One mile and a distance. View Halloo . 9 6 Aiguille 7 8 Arrow Lad .8 8 Arikira 7 5 Carfex 8 8 Tiger Gain ..7 4 Slippery ... 711 Thrasher ..7 0 There is a handy field in the principal handicap. B. H. Morris will most likely ride View Halloo. He ran a good race in the Cup, and ought to improve over this distance, which has always suited him better. Next best on form looks to be Carfex, who will again have a 51b allowance. He was unlucky in the Cup., Arrow Lad, Slippery, ’Aiguille and Tiger Gain all have to be considered. lhe latter is up against open company, but his hack form was impressive, and he must have a good chance. Favourites may be View Halloo, Carfex. and Tiger Gain. 2.8 p.m.—

There is no form of any note in the two-year-old race. Scholar, Inveresk and Lord Hereford hare raced, and the.latter has filled a place, but Scholar and Inveresk havtf not run on too well. However, they should improve. Probably one of Mr. Currie’s pair, Burnish and Canopy, mny'.prove good enough. The best backed may be Scholar and Mr. Currie’s elect. RONGGTEA HACK HANDICAP, of £9O. One mile and a distance.

Form iu the Itongotea Hack points, to Sanguine King, Pan.go, fiazoor, and Lunbohm, with possible improvers in Gold Ruler, Cardinal Moon, and, Nightrunner. The public may prefer the chances of Limbohm, Sanguine King and Pango. COLYTON HANDICAP, of £lOO. Six furlongs. Slipper.)’ ..8 8 Farmer ... 7 7 Knollmere ... 8 3 Sea lox .... 7 1 Dlatomous ..8 3 , . Although there is but, a modest. field .in the open sprint, including two, in Slippery and Knollmere, who have another engagement, the issue is open. Farmer will improve, or at least he should do. so, as yesterday marked his first run since June, and Sea Fox was undoubtedly unlucky yesterday. Diatomous may not be ready. Favouritism may trend the way of the lightweights, Farmer and Sea Fox.

In the hack sprint Amyr.il has to be given a chance to recover form, as her poor showing yesterday was not ,due to nnv lapse on her part. Dollar Prince with an allowance, will run well again, while Courtega, Land Tax, and Boon all have good prospects. Then there are fresh possibles like Cullus, Golden Chant, nnd Saltspray. Most money may go on Amyril, Doll.i’r Prince and Courtega. EMPIRE HANDICAP, ot £lO5. Seven

In the concluding event -ijauy »py lithe form horse, but Knollmere. Speed, Emotion and even Esteem are all liable to improve. La Poupee, on Levin form, should be hard to -beat. The best backed may be La Poupee and Speed. CHANGE IN BETTING New Brighton Trots By Telegraph.—Press Association. Cliristchurch, December 1. The committee of the New Brighton Trotting Club has decided to abandon the win totalisator machine and revert to what was virtually the old method of betting at its meeting on December 9. There will be only one pool. In races of eight or less starters two dividends will be declared on the same percentage as existed prior to the advent of the win-and-place system. In races where, there are nine or more starters three dividends will be paid, the ration being 70 per cent., 20 per cent., and 10 per cent. It is believed that other prominent trotting clubs will follow suit, the reason being growing dissatisfaction on the part of speculators with the present system.
