MINISTERS FAREWELLED
Revs. J. Baird & W. G. Carpenter
A large number of ministers and their wives attended the farewell arranged this week'by the Wellington Ministers’ Association for the Rev. James Baird, 8.A., of the Kent Terrace Presbyterian Church, who is removing to Timaru, and Pastor W. G. Carpenter, well known as “Uncle George” of 2YA, minister of the Vivian Street Church of Christ, who is removing to Auckland. The speakers include-! the Rev. W. Bullock (Anglican), Rev. J. Hubbard, M.A. (Presbyterian), Rev. Bramwell Scott (Methodist), and the Rev. E. N. Goring (Baptist), who each expressed the warmest appreciation of the departing Ministers, and the pleasure derived from their associations in the past.
The president, Lt.-Colonel Burton, who presided, expressed the association’s appreciation of the splendid service rendered by the departing ministers during the many years they had been members and office-bearers of the Wellington Ministers’ Association.
Vocal numbers were contributed by the Rev. J. R. Blanchard, 8.A., qnd violin solos were played by Miss Olga Burton, L.A.B.
