MONDAY’S WRESTLING
With |wo men of the same weight, style, aifd age, and with the added stimulus due to Meeske's special trfp from Sydney for the purpose, the match between Mamos and Meeske at the Town Hall on Monday should provide a fitting finale to a very successful wrestling season in Wellington. Apart from Ike Robin’s claims to the New Zealand 1933 title, it is . clear that George Walker must receive_ that honour. According to the records of the season Harry Mamos stands next to Walker, and at top of the visiting team’s list, and a match with the versatile Australian should result in a good exhibition. Meeske is accustomed to the style accepted in Australia, but with George Bennett as referee he will have to be on his'best behaviour.
New Zealand Amateur Championships. The New Zealand amateur championships are to be staged at St. Thomas’s Hall, Newtown, on Tuesday and Wednesday. Candidates for all the seven divisions have been nominated by all the larger wrestling associations, and smaller numbers from the others, and there should be some interesting bouts between some of the best-known amateurs.
