CAMP FOR MOTORISTS
Permanent Site Not Yet in View
HUTT PARK FACILITIES
“The time when a permanent, camp for motorists will be established in the capital city is not yet in view,” states the twenty-eighth annual report of the Wellington Automobile Club. “The executive was in a position to report on the occasion of the last annual report that it was hoped to have an area set aside at Moa Point. At that time the area was being levelled, and following on a suggestion which emanated from the director of parks and reserves, the executive came to the conclusion that the area was the best available, both from the point of view of location and facilities for sewerage and drainage. Now, however, the area has been fenced in with the aerodrome, and we are more or less in the position of again reviewing proposals made in the past.
“In the meantime the Hutt Park Board has carried out very desirable improvements in the camp at the Hutt Park, and this camp is now very well patronised. Proposals to sot. aside a portion of Lyall Bay Reserve in the vicinity’ of Resolution Street for the purpose of forming a motor camp were brought before the Wellington City Council last evening by the reserves committee. It was stated that there was no intention of spending money in developing the area in the meantime.
