HOMING PIGEONS
Fast Race from Waiouru
The Wellington Homing Pigeon Society’s third race of the season was flown from Waiouru, 134 miles air-line. T , pigeons were liberated by the stationmaster in fine weather, with a strong westerly wind, which materially assisted the winning bird to put up a splendid velocity of over 1500 yards per minute, and the race resulted in another close finish between several lofts. The following are the first eight plaeings:—C. Webster and Son’s Phar Lap, 1505.8yd5. per minute; B. Clements Never Traps, 1402.0yd5.; A. Clement s Black Prince, 1401.6yd5.; C. Egginton’s Good Wing, 1403.3yd5.; Cannoli and Henderson’s Ambition, 1486.4yd5.; J. Perrett’s Consistent, 1480.7yd5.; C. Haine s Blue Peter, 1480yds.'; F. Couper and Son’s Eclipse. 145-I.9yds.
The south racing programme commences on Saturday. October 14, with a flock race from Culverden, 140 miles airline.
