Laurel track officials to-day announced the conditions of the Winooka race on October 20. The contest will be for three-year-olds and upward, over six furlongs; weight 101 b below scale. The purse will be 2500 dollars, with 250 dollars subscription for each entrant added. Character, who is a possible starter, ran first in a race to-day over six furlongs' in Imin. 11 2-ssec., only 1-5 of a second slower than the track record. The Naylor-Whitney negotiations for a match race between Equipoise nnd Winooka have apparently reached an impasse. Mr. Naylor will consider no distance in excess of seven furlongs, but he is remaining here until Friday, as there is a possibility Mr. Whitney may agree to a shorter distance. If the Equipoise race is not arranged, Mr. Naylor suggests a three-cornered race between Winooka. Jamestown, and Gold. Step.
