Read—Laird The wedding of Miss Joan Laird to Mr. Earl Read was solemnised on Tuesday afternoon at St. Paul’s Pro-Cathe-dral by Canon Percival James. The bride, who was escorted by Dr. Alex. Robertson, wore a Mary blue crinkled crepe frock trimmed with white organdi ruffles. Her veil was of limerick lace and she carried a sheaf of pink tulips. ■ Mrs. T. D. Donaldson attended the bride as matron of honour, wearing a frock of patterned velvet with a red felt hat, aud her bouquet was of primroses. The two little flower girls were Pamela Donaldson and Heather Scott, the former in pink and the latter in white. They both carried posies of forget-me-nof.s. Mr. T. D. Donaldson was best man. The reception was held at Mr. and Mrs. Donaldson’s home, “St. Leonardo,” Ngalo. ♦ ♦ * Vi gers—Murcott On Wednesday, September 6, the wedding was solemnised at St. John’s Anglican Church, Dannevirke, of Gladys Elizabeth, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. Murcott, and John Lee, youngest son of Mr. and the late Mrs. A. K. Vigers, of Turaklna, and formerly of Ormondville. The Rev. G. B. Stephenson officiated. Mrs. McKinnon, church organist, played the bridal march, while Mr. Fred Tonks accompanied solos by Mrs. Tonks, Wellington. The church had been beautifully decorated by friends of the bride. The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a lovely gown of eggshell ring velvet, cut on fitting lines and slightly trained, and a long embroidered veil, held off the face with a band of orange buds, across the back of the head. Her bouquet was of jonquils and hyacinths. The bridesmaids were Misses Pearl and Jessie Murcott, sisters of the bride, both dressed alike in ankle-length frocks of daffodil ring velvet, with velvet caps of the same colour, trimmed with violet, violet shoes, and bouquets of violet hyacinths and daffodils. The best man was Mr. Charles Vigers, of Hastings, brother of the bridegroom, and the groomsman Mr. H. Murcott, brother of the bride. The reception was held in the Foresters’ Hall, Mrs. Murcott, mother of the bride, receiving her guests in a dress of prune crinkly crepe, with diagonal trimmings, and hat to tone. She carried a posy of hyacinths. Mrs. Weenink (Turaklna), sister of the bridegroom, wore a smart black costume, with black and white hat. When all the congratulatory speeches had been made, Mr. and Mrs. Vigers left by car for a trip, the bride travelling in a wine-coloured suit with hat to match, and furs.
