OBITUARY
Mi-. Edward Beckman
The death occurred at Wellington recently of Mr. Edward Beekman, eldest son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Beekman, of Rongotea. The late Mr. Beckman was of a retiring disposition, but his kindly and generous nature made him widely popular. He leaves four sisters .and two brothers —Mrs. C. Parrant, Petone; Mrs. S. Smith, Te Pol, Matamata; Mrs. Evans, Rongotea; Miss M. Beckman, Rongotea; Mr. Beckman, Rongotea; and Mr. E- Beekman, Napier. Mr. P. F. O’Connor A cable from Sydney announces the death of Mr. Patrick Francis O’Connor. Th late Mr. O’Connor, whose age was 52, was born in Greymouth. About 30 years ago he went to Palmerston North, later going into business as a jeweller. He retired from active business ten years ago, and having been in ill-health in recent months he. together with his wife and family, went to Australia on a health-recruiting holiday. Though of a retiring nature, the late Mr. O'Connor took an active part in the affairs of his church and was a generous donor to many charities. Besides his widow there are two children. Brian and Kathleen O’Connor. Mr. James Clarke The death occurred at Masterton on Wednesday right of Mr. James Clarke, a well-known settler of the Matahlwi district, at the age of G 7 years, states a “Dominion” Special Service message. The late Mr. Clarke, who was born at Taunton, Somerset, England, came to New Zealand 47 years ago. and bad resided in the Masterton district ever since, spending the pas* 24 years of that time at Matahlwi. Previous *o that he was employed in farming pursuits at Rargltumau. He is survived by a widow and family of two sons and two daughters.
