W.E.A. LECTURES

Feilding Branch’s Activities

The close of the W.E.A. session at Feilding was celebrated on Tuesday evening with a supper given by the lady members, following Mr. J. A. Brailsford’s lecture on Jane Addams. Votes of thanks were accorded to the lecturer for his courses in this and past years to the executive, to those who had given hospitality to the lecturer, and to the ladies for the evening’s supper. , Several members expressed regret that, owing to the withdrawal of the Government’s financial aid, the W.E.A. might lose the services of the district tutor-organiser, Mr. Brailsford. Mr. Brailsford said he was confident the W.E.A. branches would be able to continue their activities next year in any case with courses sent out from the University Colleges. He urged members to preserve their organisation for free, independent discussion. A resolution of regret at the possibility of losing the tutor’s services was passed unanimously.
