BRIDGE AND DANCING

Y.M.C.A. Party at Karori

A beautiful fountain, lit with multicoloured lights and in play for the first time in honour of Miss Joi Denby, greeted guests as they arrived at “Homeward,” Karori, last evening for the dance and bridge party to help the funds of the Boys’ Division Queen for the Y.M.C.A. Carnival. The ballroom was decorated with fruit blossoms and hydrangeas in lovely pink and blue tones, which contrasted most pleasingly with the crystal chandeliers. The drawingroom, where bridge was played, was also arranged with wonderful flowers.

The guests were received by Mrs. Denby, who was wearing a black lace dress, and Miss Joi Denby, in lemon elephant crepe, with an organdie coatee. Mrs. Sutherland wore a gown of black satin beaute, and Mrs. Greenberg was among those present, wearing an almond green georgette dress. The Y.M.C.A. funds will be considerably augmented by this most successful effort, and thanks are due to Mr. and Mrs. Sutherland for so generously lending their home for the occasion.
