Vice-Regal. His Excellency the Governor-General, Lord Bledisloe, paid a visit yesterday morning to the Wellington Kennel Club’s annual dog show. Dr. J. T. Campbell, M.A., Ph.D. of Edinburgh, who recently returned to New Zealand, has commenced his duties at Nelson College. Mr. C. W. Budd has been elected president of the United Kingdom Manufacturers and New Zealand Representatives’ Association, and Mr. A. Leslie Wall vice-president. Mr. A. G. W. Dunningham, of the Wellington Public Library staff, who has been appointed chief librarian for the Dunedin Municipal Library, will relinquish his duties in Wellington toward the end of this month. He is to take up his new duties at Dunedin on November 2. The library committee of the City Council has received 36 applications for the vacant position, but so far has not made a final decision. Mr. Peter Dawson, the eminent baritone, who has completed a series of forty concerts under the management of Messrs. J. and N. Tait, concludes that engagement in Sydney this week, and will leave for London by the Oraina to-morrow. An effort was made to induce Mr. Dawson to extend the tour, on account of its phenomena! success in Australia (the New Zealand tour was a financial failure), but Mr. Dawson wished to leave for London as early as possible. Senor Arnaldo Caballero, the pianist, who toured with Mr. Dawson, is also returning to England.
