HUTT VALLEY WEATHER
Observations for August Meteorological observations taken at Lower Hutt during the past two months give an interesting comparison of the weather during that period. The rainfall recorded was 4.70 Inches. Rain fell on 17 days, the maximum fall being 1.10 Inches on August 10. Dews were recorded on five mornings, frosts on ten, hail on four days, lightning on two nights, and thunderstorm on one. The mean grass minimum was 37.9 degrees Fahrenheit, and the extreme lowest 23.0 degrees Fahrenheit on August 20. For the same mouth last year, 11 frosts were recorded, the hardest being 20.3 degrees Fahrenheit on August 9, 1932. During August the rainfall recorded was 5.78 inches. Rain fell on 15 days, the maximum fall being 1.99 inches on July 15. The rainfall was approximately the average. Dews fell on eight mornings, frosts on five, and hail on two days.
The mean grass minimum was 37.3 degrees Fahrenheit, and the extreme lowest reading was 25.6 degrees Fahhenhelt on July 28.
