NEARING THE END
Fielden Taylor Fair To-day and to-morrow are the final occasions on which the public will have the opportunity of visiting the very attractive fair at the Town Hall. Large crowds have already attended the various sessions and good business is reported from the stallholders. This afternoon is to be devoted to a special shopping period, when all manner of saleable goods will be on display. A most attractive entertainment has been arranged for the evening, when the final of the marching contest will be held and. the final of the lightweight tug-of-war decided. Music will be supplied by the Wellington Artillery Band, and the popular pageant of nations will again be presented. To-mor-row afternoon a children’s fancy dress party is to be held, numerous prizes being offered, including one for the best costume representing New Zealand-made goods. In the evening the curtain will be rung down on all activities, the raffles drawn, and the queen crowned. It is hoped that the occasion will be a memorable one both from the point of view of public patronage and the excellence of the entertainment. Those desirous of assisting the Rev. T. Fielden Taylor in hi? mission work should take advantage of the opportunities presented to them to-day and to-morrow by attending the functions themselves and by urging their friends to do likewise. Pickles: Miss Turton, 1 and 2; Mrs. Donald, 3. Scones: Mrs. Cole, 1; Miss Allan, 2. Nutbread: Mrs. Cooper, ’1; Mrs. Garner, 2.- Girdled scones: Mrs. Barnard, 1; Mrs. Conlon, 2. Shortbread : Mrs. Barnett, 1; Mrs. Donald, 2. Pastry: Mrs. Taylor, 1 -," Mrs. Saxton, 2. Small cakes: Mrs. Garner, 1; Airs. Cooper, 2. Pound cake: Mrs. Cadwalder, 1. Plain sponge: Airs, Franklin, 1: Aliss B. Pearson, 2. Butter sponge: Airs. Kessell, 1; Mrs. Donald, 2. Fancy sponge: Mrs. Stone, 1; Airs. Alntthew, 2. Aliss Parlane, of St. Alary’s Home, Karori, was the judge. The voting in the queen carnival is:— Sports, 26,029; Mission. 22.584; House, 18.104; Transport. 17,795; total. 84,512.
