Music for Six Concerts Proper homage is to be done the memory of Johannes Brahms by the musical people of Wel.ington this month to mark the centenary , of the composer’s birth. One beneficial feature of these centenary celebrations is the fact that it brings the individual and collective musical forces of the city together with no other desire but to do all honour'to one who has .so wonderfully enriched the world with music of amazing variety and infinite charm. Music-lovers will probably be curious to know what works of Brahms are to be presented at the six concerts which will commence on Saturday next. They are as fo low: — Orchestral; Symphony in D; Academic Overture; Double Concerto for violin, 'cello, and. orchestra; and the Hungarian dances. Choral: "Song of Destiny,” and Rhapsody for contralto, male chorus, and orchestra. Chamber music: Sextet for strings; quintet for piano and strings; quartets in A and G minor for piano and strings; Sonatas in A and D minor for violin and piano; and trlo.in E flat for violin, 'cello, and piano. Pianoforte: Variations, cappricios. rhapsodies, ballads, and intermezzi. Songs: Twenty-four lieder. The performers will include Ava Symons, Valerie Corliss, Anna Ginn. Freicla Meier, Mrs. W. Andrews, Zell O’Kane, Molly Atkinson, Gladys Hibberd, G. A'Court, John Bishop. Gordon Short, George Ellwood, Leon de Mauny. H. Temple White. Paul Vinogradoiff. Claude Tanner, Frank Crowther, William McLean, K. Robinsou. Roy Hill. W.'Binet Brown, the Royal Choral Union, the Apollo Singers, the Wellington Male Voice Choir, and the Brahms Festival Orchestra.
