SCIENCE CONGRESS
Many Subjects Discussed Vancouver, June 9. Describing the work of the all-Aus-traiian observatories, Mr. W. B. Rimmer (Canberra) told the Science Congress of the co-operation with Java stations in the studying of selected stars. Mr. J. A. Prescott (Adelaide University) discussed the Australian wheat belt and the problems of the nitrogen supply. Mr. T. 8. Palmer (United States Biological Survey) urged greater co-opera-tion and extended legislative protection to birds on coasts, bordering the Pacific Ocean. He pointed out that bird knowledge had advanced greatly, but stated that observers along the Pacific coasts of Canada, United States, Japan, and Australia were too few and too widely separated.
