Trophy was played in the presence of 2500 and under excellent weather conditions, save that Wellington had the disadvantage of the sun. A hot assault was made on the home goal, McDougall dealing with dangerous drives from Jeffery and McLeod, and making several brilliant and spectacular saves. Just on time Campbell scored from a penalty kick, .the game ending: Otago 5, Wellington 4.
