WAIRARAPA WEATHER
Tararuas in Winter Garb Dominion Special Service. Masterton, June 11. After almost a week o£ bitterly cold weather the conditions throughout the Wairarapa improved on Friday afternoon and the night was beautifully clear, with a pale mellow moon shining from a crys-tal-like sky. On Saturday morning a bard frost was experienced throughout the district, 8.2 degrees being registered at Masterton and 7 degrees at Carterton. The day was gloriously fine, there being a cloudless sky and not a breath of wind, as a direct contrast to the severe southerly weather experienced during the earlier part of the week. The Tararua ranges, dressed with their winter garb, presented a majestic sight with their high-ridged peaks stretched out like a long white cloud as they glittered in the brilliant sunshine. Wintry conditions prevailed again to-day, however, although late last night there was every appearance of another hard frost. There was a biting southerly wind and occasional light showers fell during the day.
