MISS MARY PRATT, CONTRALTO
On .Saturday evening next in the Town Hall Welli'ugtoniuns will have the opportunity of hearing lor the first time Miss Mary Pratt, the brilliant Dunedin contralto. who has been advised by Mr. John Brownlee, the celebrated baritone of the Paris Opera House, to train for the Paris Opera. Alter hearing Miss Pratt sing. Mr. Brownlee said :—‘‘There is not. a voice like this in France. The Paris Opera House would receive her with open arms; hers is the type of voice they have been crying out. for for years. If she. is sent abroad I am certain this Dominion will eventually be very proud of her." Miss Pratt will sing “My Dwelling Place” and “The Stormj’ Morning, (Schubert). “How Changed the Vision" (Handel), nnd “The Praise of God" (Beethoven). Mr. Temple .White will play ns organ solos Handels “( uckoo nnd Nightingale Concerto" nnd “On the Moor" (Julien Nesbitt): while lhe Harmonic Society will contribute part-songs, choruses, quartets, etc.. including n se’fing of the Largo from lhe symphony “From the New World” (Dvorak) — words and ndanlntion by Williams Arms >.’s Ji j, r . r _p n Hfleil “Going Home." “T Can But Love Thro" (Cornelius).
