That discoloured ivory can be restored to its lovely original colour if it is rubbed with lemon juice and Spanish whiting, leaving on for half an hour, then washing off, and polishing with any good furniture cream? If very discoloured, it should be washed in soapy water and set to bleach in the sun. That, if you dry a strip of orange peel and, when well dried, place this in the tin or tea-caddy where you keep your tea, a very pleasant flavour is given to the tea? Tangerine oranges are the best to use and, after putting the strip with the tea, the lid should be kept on for at least a week before use. To repair evening shoes for those who dance much in winter and find toes get shabby, get a stick of sealingwax to match the colour, break this up and put in a bottle with enough methylated spirit to cover, and when dissolved apply a little to the worn parts with a small brush. Gold or silver shoes are easily mended.
