BOY EMPLOYMENT
Committee Still Active WOMAN’S GENEROUS OFFER Speaking at the Rotary Club’s luncheon yesterday, Mr. Phillip Myers, of the Y.M.C.A. and Citizens’ Committee •for the relief of boy unemployment, reminded members that last year the committee had succeeded in placing 200 boys in situations. Since January this year, 144 boys had been placed in permanent jobs, 104 in temporary jobs, and IS on farm lands—a total of 356 boys. Still there were 524 on the registry, which was not so bad under all the circumstances. The greatest difiiculty lay in placing youths .between 17 and 20 years of age, between boyhood and young manhood, as some of them were inclined to be dissatisfied when called upon to do boys’ work. Mr. Myers expressed the hope that Rotarians would do what they could to help the committee in some shape or form to get the boys employed. One lady, whom they all knew, had written in to say that she could not employ a boy, but would be only too pleased to pay 10/- a week for two boys for a term of two years. What they had to do in that case was to find an employer who could not afford to employ a boy yet wanted one, and a boy who was in need of a job at the wage offered. lie would be glad to hear of anyone who was inclined to assist in that or any other way.
