The Cost of Searching

Sir, —The way in which many people give time and money iu searching for trampers lost, or merely overdue, must fill everyone with the greatest admiration, but is it a fair thin ;- to expect this sacrifice from individuals, many of whom are not members of tramping clubs? Trampers overdue are bound to be searched for. I suggest to tramping clubs the advisability of increasing their membership fees, with the object of creating a fund to help pay at least part of the cost of future searching parties. I du not know what the fees are now—my own rambles were done before tramping chibs came into being. I am quite sure, however, that tramping clubs do not wish m become a burden on the community, and this suggestion may be a way in which they can help themselves. —I am, etc., STANLEY NATUSCH. IVellington, Alay 2.
