BIG FIGHT EXPECTED
Irish Local-Body Elections DE VALERA’S BELIEF London, April 30. The “Weekly Dispatch” says that the Irish Free State parties are preparing for a great fight in tho local elections in June, similar to that in the general election. The Fianna Fail is attempting to obtain complete control, Mr. de Valera believing that his programme cannot be achieved while the local councils elected in Mr. Cosgrave’s time are administering the councils' affairs, refusing to fix rates, aud thereby hampering his activities. The Costgrave party is aiming at proving that the people want an end to the economic war and a restoration of the ordinary markets.
