Sir, —In connection with (lie recent statements as to advantages received by primary producers from the Slate, for which the Manufacturers’ Association has made itself responsible, I am instructed by my executive to issue the following challenge :— If the Manufacturers’ Association is prepared to forgo all benefits received from the State through the customs tariff and in other ways, my executive will answer for the farmers that they also are prepared to do likewise and thus assist in removing a tremendous load from the people of New Zealand.—l am., etc., A.
