FAREWELL PARTIES

W.I. President’s Departure

Members of the Women's Institute. Porirua. and Plunket Committee combined and gave Mrs. M. D. Vickers, president of the Women’s Institute, a farewell afternoon before she left for England. Mrs. Ryan, vice-president of the W.1., in a pleasing speech spoke of the esteem in which Mrs. Vickers was held by members of the W.I. Mrs. E. Windley, president of the local Plunket Committee, also spoke. Mrs. Ryan, on behalf of the members, presented Mrs. Vickers with a fountain pen and a writing case. Miss Rita Briggs also made a presentation. • * « A farewell afternoon was given by Mrs. Huekstepp in honour of Mrs. Vickers, who was leaving for England for an extended holiday. A most enjoyable time was spent with musical programme, cards, and competitions.
