Canterbury beat Otago IWW RECORD BY GEDDES By Telegraph —Tress Association. Dunedin, April 30. An interprovincial contest between Canterbury and Otago along .the lines of the Nortlon Cup competition was included in the Otago Swimming Centre's carnival on Saturday evening. Canterbury won the contest, scoring victories in water polo (1-0) and the seven-a-side flying squadron. Otago won the diving and the invitation 50 yards scratch race. W. J. Jarvis (Otago) beat D. 11. Symes (Canterbury) by two feet. The time was 25 l-ssec. Following the breaking three weeks ago of his own New Zealand intermediate boys’ 100 yards breakstroke record of 75 3-ssec. by 4-ssec., Reg. Geddes made a further successful attempt’ on the record and covered the distance in the astonishing time of 73 4-ssec., only 3-ssec lower than the senior Australian record.
