QUEEN CONTEST

Great Interest Displayed SUPPORT FOR CANDIDATES Wonderful interest has been displayed by residents of the East Harbour district in the forthcoming Easter Fair, and there is every reason to believe that the efforts of everyone taking part will be crowned with gratifying success. The Queen contest, in which four young ladies of the district are competing for the honoured position of the Queen of the Easter Fair has created much interest, and from the activities of the committees working so hard in their interests a very satisfactory result should be obtained. The four Queens are: Miss “Day’s Bay” (Jean Eggie), Miss “Traffic” (Lindsay Greig), Miss “Sport” (Frances Mather), and Miss “Britannia” (Nancy Gillespie). During the past two weeks many enjoyable and original functions have been held —dances, bridge parties, ping-pong tournaments, garden parties, and sports events —all with the object of adding to party funds for the Queen candidates, and residents of the East Harbour district are deserving of congratulation n-non the spontaneous manner in which they have donned the gala spirit and given their continued support to the many activities. “One penny, one vote,” is an excellent slogan, so when asked to tray tickets for one or more of the raffles, competitions, etc., remember that the mopey spent represents so many votes for your favourite candidate in. the Queen contest.
