(Copyright.) A little ground rice added to batter will make it lighter and less apt to go sodden. Olive oil applied to a bruise, and followed by a dab of iodine will prevent the bruise from swelling and stiffening. A little olive oil rubbed on steel cutlery that is to be stored away will prevent it from rusting. 'Where a mustard or other plaster has to be applied, the skin will not blister if it is first lightly rubbed with the white of an egg.
