CITY AIRPORT
Runway at Rongotai Being
Extended
Visit OF SOUTHERN CROSS
The Rongotai aerodrome is being extended in”the south-easterly direction so as to provide a runway for aeroplanes 1000 yards in length. This means that the existing flat is being extended toward the cottages at Moa Point. When completed this ground should- be quite large enough for the Southern Cross or any other large plane likely to visit this country for years to come. The runway lies from north-west to south-east—the track of Wellington’s two prevailing winds. Westerly and easterly winds are a rarity in. Wellington. The work, which is costing £3OO, is being done as a relief job under the supervision of the Director of Parks, Mr. J. G. MacKenzie.
