REUNION DINNER

Big Assembly Last Evening A MEMORABLE OCCASION Every available scat at the dinner table in Kirkcaldie and Stains’ main tearoom was filled last night at the reunion dinner held as part of the Wellington College jubilee celebrations, and from the lively conversation throughout the meal and the intense interest shown in the remarks of the various speakers, this will be an. event no less memorable than any of the more formal occasions of toe jubilee. There were more than 500 old girls present, and many were unable to be accommodated. The decorations were carried out in yellow and orange, and the college crest appeared on the walls. Behind Miss Greig’s table, where the guests of honour were seated, the jubilee banner was displayed. At the table were Miss Mary Mclean, Miss Batham, Miss Mary Richmond, Mrs. E. AV. Kane, Miss Ward, Miss Lorimer, Miss Irene Wilson, Mrs. Dall, Mrs. Strong, Mrs. McPhee, Mrs. E. Dawson, and Dr. Ada Paterson. A number of toasts were honoured, and interesting speeches made in reply. Miss Mary McLean received a wonderful ovation from the hundreds of old girls present, who were at the 'college during her many years as headmistress. Reminiscences are always the chief delight of such gatherings as ‘last night’s dinner, and tales of the early days of the school were a delightful part of the enjoyable 'proceedings at this most successful gathering.
