GERMAN SHIP DUE
Expected Arrival at Auckland An expected arrival at Auckland at an early date is the German four-mast-ed auxiliary barque Magdalene Vinnen, from Spain. The vessel left Algeciras on November 13 with a small consignment of cork for Auckland. After discharge she will proceed to Australia to load wheat for Europe. The Magdalene Vinnen is a steel vessel of 3476 tons, and is one of the largest sailing vessels afloat. She is fitted with a 500 h.p. Diesel engine for use in calm weather. It is now 73 days since she left Spain, and her arrival is expected at any time. Two other sailing vessels, the Finnish barque Winterhude and the Finnish four-masted barque Passat, are due at Auckland next month with guano cargoes from Seychelles Island.
