Handbags play an important part in the modern girl’s dress accessories, according to Marlene Dietrich. In her latest picture Miss Dietrich carries one bag made of two shades of pin seal, deep brown and lined with beige pin seal leather. It is as flat and thin as any compact and has two extremely thin compartments to be expanded to care for the important details. .

Three pin seal flat, and detachable cases that occupy the inside half are new and worthy of approval. These triplets take care of cigarettes, powder, and loose change; each can be removed and carried around without the remaining two, or can be used in either the coat pocket or other handbag as they are of a very deep brown that harmonises with every colour. “New evening bags are going to surprise people,” says Miss Dietrich. “Some wide-awake maker has thought of a simple and decorative method of lining a luxurious evening vanity so that dribbles of rouge and lipstick will not spot them. White beaded bags have linings of ruby red velvet. Shimmering satins are also lined with dark shades of velvet.”
