INSTITUTES PRAISED
Woman Traveller’s Tribute
“Rural Life in New Zealand” was the subject of a talk given by Mrs. Thistleton Smith to the members of Walsingham Women’s Institute (England) recently. The speaker, who had just returned from a tour of the Dominion, held her listeners enthralled with the description of her travels. Special reference was made to the social welfare work and the women’s institute movement in New Zealand. The report of the lecture appearing In the local newspaper reads, inter alia, as follows:—“It is always interesting to hear at first hand how the institutes in the Dominion manage their affairs in spite of the difficulties they have to overcome. It makes us feel rather futile when we realise the amount of social services they undertake.”
