COCKROACH RACING IN PARIS.
Cockroach racing has been imported from the Riviera to Montparnasse. Paris, anil impecunious artists who cannot soil pictures try to win the price of their dinner by "backing their fancy.” The "course’’ is -about 12ft. long, and is made of glass, partitioned into 10 lanes. The cockroaches’ are placed at the startinggate. When the gate is lifted a brilliant light comes on. and. as cockroaches .dislike light they make a rush to the inviting darkness at the end of the lane.
