Farmers Bulk Largest in Year’s Total ' • FIGURES FOR DISTRICT j The bankruptcy returns; for; the Wellington district last year show that 147 petitions were filed, as against 212 in ;1931.- The* Wellington district includes Wellington. • .Wanganui, Palmerston , North, Pahiatua, Mastertoil, and Taihape. The official assignee’s returns deal with 75 different occupations and show that farming bulked largest with 22 bankruptcies. Of the farmers,;; 10 worked bn their own account and did not employ’labour. The next largest class was that of labourers,' there being’ 10 bankruptcies in, this class. ' - " K '■ Third equal on the list in point of number were hairdressers, married women, and motor engineers, there being live bankruptcies in each of these classes. ~ Of the 147 bankrupts. 35 worked for wages. 58 were employers, and 54 worked on their own account and did not employ labour.
