WORK OFFERING

Penrose Farm Boys

CAMP CLOSES TO-MORROW

Dominion Special Service.

Mastertoii, Jan. 24.

The holiday camp for unemployed boys at I’enrosc concludes on Thursday. Speaking to "The Dominion”’to-day, Mr. L. J. Greenberg, who has been in charge of the camp, expressed satisfaction with. the results achieved. Numbers of applications were being received from farmers, and it was hoped to place in employment on farms at least 40 of the 60 boys who had received training at the camp. 'The camp had been well worth while. They had gained by the experience of the previous camp, he said. Lectures had been transferred from day to evening, the whole day being given up to practical work. Often the boys had risen at 4.30 a.ro. and worked until 4 p.m., and at 6A5 p.m. Had attended lectures, so it could. be seen there was little time for recreation. The boys, said Mr. Greenberg, quite realised their plight and were serious ih their resolve to help themselves and to remain on the land if possible. He added that during' the camp excellent co-operation had been received from nearby farmers, as well as assistance from Mr. N. Blateliford and the XVairarapa Training Farm stuff and Sir XVilliara Perry. Yesterday was .-visitors’ day, and the camp was inspected by parents and friends of the boys.-They expressed themselves ns delighted with what they saw, although, as the day was observed more or less as a holiday, they did not see the boys at work. ,
