MONEY FOR PIONEER
Early Settlers Hold “A Bob In”
“There is one of our members present who has had a bad time, and who is hungry and in want,”- said Mr. William Toomath, secretary of the Wellington Early Settlers’ and Historical Association, at yesterday’s celebration in the Oddfellows’ Hall. “He has had a deplorable experience. He has just come out of the hospital, and while he was there the authorities stuck to his old age pension. I’m going to suggest an old-fashioned game. It is called ‘A Bob in,’ and I propose that we present the result to our old friend.” The suggestion caught the imagination of those present, as well as the shillings in their pockets, and the result wqs a gift of money to the old early settler who is so badly up against it.
