BLOUSES FOR EVENING
Smart and Practical
Tbe most unusual role that blouses are playing this season is in the evening. Many of the smartest and most practical evening frocks of the moment consist of a slim-fitting skirt and an- elaborate blouse in a contrasting colour and fabric. Tbe skirt may be of one of the fine new woollens, but the blouse after dark is usually of some uusual silk crepe or figured, lame. The striking thing about evening blouses is the amount of material which goes to produce the lovely draped effects and the exciting varieties of sleeves typical of all of them. Sleeve lengths vary according to individual’ tastes, but whatever the length the sleeve, to be smart, must be a. little fantastic. The importance of sleeves and shoulders in these evening blouses is a blessing to anyone who wants to look slimmer; the wider tbe shoulder line tbe narrower the hips appear to be.
A typical evening blouse which is. having great popularity at parties lately is in a pastel shade of crackle satin worn with a dark corselet skirt. The elbow-length sleeves are cut in one with the bodice, and are slit up to the shoulder. The high bateau neck buttons in the nape of the neck demurely, and, in contrast, the bodice is slit from the buttoning down to the waist to show a gleam of white flesh.
