People who suffer from chilblains should take precautions before the cold weather sets in. By adopting a few simple rules in time, this painful malady may be avoided. It is best to wash in cold, or lukewarm water, never hot. A. diet including plenty of fat is essential, cream is excellent, and ' as much milk os possbile should be drunk. Cod-liver oil and malt is a splendid, warmth-giver to protect the system from the results of chilly winds. Warm clothing, of course, is allimportant; if you cannot stand wool next to the skin, there are many brands of underwear which make double-tex-ture garments with cotton or silk inside, which do not irritate. Tight skin gloves should be avoided, or anything which does not permit of absolutely free circulation. Above all, plenty of brisk exercise is essential.
