AT THE RACES

Glorious Sunshine After Rain Stormy weather in the early hours of Saturday morning undoubtedly inspired women racegoers with caution as far as clothes were concerned, for frilly frocks were few and far between at Trentham and smart suits and stripes and patterned silks were most popular, The crowds on the stands did not present the colourful appearance warranted by the glorious sunshine which followed the rain. However, the surroundings made compensation by the delightful freshness of the green lawns and the gay flower beds.

The president, Air. Eric Riddiford, and Airs. Riddiford, entertained a number of guests at luncheon. Airs. Riddiford wore a smart mustard coloured suit relieved with white, and a brown hat. Dainty sweet peas, perennial phlox, and feathery gypsophila were particularly graceful and effective on the luncheon table.

The president's guests were: The Rt. Hon. and Airs. Forbes, the Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates, Hon. A. and Airs. Hamilton, Hon. C. E. and Airs. Macmillan, Hon. R. ami Airs.
