SLANDER ALLEGED
Writ for £450 Issued
TAIL-WAGGERS’ AFFAIRS
A writ claiming £450 damages for a lieged slander was issued on Saturday against a Wellington professional man by Messrs. Leicester, Jowett and Rainey, solicitors, acting for Percival Rhys Wingrove, secretary of the TailWaggers’ Club. The statement of claim sets out several defamatory statements alleged to have been made by defendatn regarding the plaintiff. The allegations relate to the collection of rewards for lost dogs, the veterinary treatment of dogs, and the collection of funds by the Alsatian dog “Prince.” Three persons, two of whom are members of the Tail-Waggers’ Club, are named in the claim as having been witnesses to the damaging statements alleged to have been made. It is set out that in consequence of the remarks attributed to defendant, the-plaintiff has been injured in his reputation and particularly in his office as secretary of the Tail-Waggers’ Club
