(Received Jan. 19, 10.30 p.m.)

Adelaide, Jan. 19. The weather was sultry to-day for the continuation of the third cricket Test match. The wicket wore splendidly. Barely 5000 spectators were present during the day. Australia scored 193 in the second innings. England won by 338 runs.

Larwood opened with an off field. Woodfull reached 51 with a neat stroke to square leg. Ten runs came oft the Notts man’s first two overs. Allen was bowling consistently well. Larwood then massed a leg i> e la> Richardson swinging one safely for 4. He also got a crisp shot for 4 past point off Allen in the next over. Verity came on at 148 and bowled with faultless length, and Woodfull had to plav every ball. Hammond was also called' on. Woodfull reached 51 by a superlative mid-on shot. Verity perturbed Richardson. One ball flew over the stumps, resulting in a “coat of varnish” bye. When the South Australian reached 21 he fell into Larwood’s leg trap, popping one past forward short leg, where Allen made a fine catch low down. Richardson hit three 4’s, but did not play with his usual dash. Larwood’s average was now three wickets for 56. He had a circle of five men round Richardson. Woodfull, who had been cautious of the (ran. wa< •hhv ntirfnered by Grim-

mett. Tbe captain got a beautiful mid-on 3 and then lost the slow bowler, Alien knocking down his leg stump when he had reached 6.

Allen at this stage had taken two wickets for 45. Wall lasted only five balls from Allen. who clean bowled him.

Woodfull, now accompanied by O'Reilly, went to 68 with a fine leg glance. O’Reilly nonplussed Larwood by slamming him through the covers for 4, but. this was his last stroke. Larwood’s next ball sent his leg stump hurtling.

Ironmonger had a short reign, Allen clean bowling him. Woodfull had a tine reception after carrying his bat for 73. Tlie innings lasted 235 minutes, England being 338 ahead. A thunderstorm broke shortly after the close of the ma tch. Following are the scores:—
